If you are a white-collar office worker, you can prepare the salad night before, bring it to the office and eat it while your colleagues are having hamburgers or other non-healthy foods.

3. Eggnog

The third item on our list of foods that start with E is the Eggnog. Although there is no exact information about its origin, it seems more likely that most drinks originate in British soil, from which they somehow originated. In fact, the fact that the “nog” part means “glass carved from a tree and served alcohol” in old English makes this thesis a little stronger. My German colleagues have told me that when they were young, their families gave this drink to get them used to the alcohol.

Some of you might find this weird and inappropriate as I did. But this is culture. Original Eggnog contains milk, raw eggs, sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. To add the alcohol, they put Brandy in it and have this drink for breakfast.

4. Egg rolls

Egg rolls are deep-fried appetizers that are very popular in American Chinese restaurants. An eggroll is a cylindrical shaped savory roll with chopped pork meat, seasonings, and shredded cabbage inside. Instead of pork meat, they use peas and corn which makes it even juicier while eating. The crust is not so crispy but a little bit soft. They are usually served warm, along with soy sauce or hot mustard.

5. Eggo Waffles

Eggo belongs to the American company Kelloggs and is sold mainly in North America. It is a perfect option for breakfast, especially kids like it very much! They can be eaten either cold or warm. Escarole looks like a lettuce
Escarole really looks like a lettuce

Escarole is one of the foods beginning with E and it looks like spinach, kale, and lettuce. But it is none of those things. They look like the head of lettuce with a slight yellow color at the bottom. It is mostly used in soups because it has a very nice texture. They are tender enough to cook quickly while maintaining their integrity. A typical soup with it contains olive oil, garlic, seasoning, chicken broth, and cheese.

8. Egg Fruit

Egg fruit should not be mistaken for eggplants, because they look nothing alike! They actually look like apricots. They are mostly grown in southern parts of Mexico and Guatemala. Its insides have a pasty texture, but if you can choose carefully and know your “Egg Fruits”, you can get your hands one some with a creamy mousse-like texture. The flavor is rich and is reminiscent of egg custard.

9. Evaporated Milk

Evaporated is an adjective we know. But that does not stop us from putting it on our list of foods that start with E. Evaporated Milk is a form of concentrated milk and differs one some aspects with Condensed Milk. 60% of its water content is removed by applying heat to the milk. the point where it differs from Condensed Milk is that it is not sweetened. It has no extra sugar involved. It requires fewer protection measures compared to normal milk thanks to its low water content. In such dense environments, it is hard for micro-organisms to survive.

10. Espresso

Ah, the sweet flavor of coffee beans in the morning. I really love it. Espresso is the main ingredient for many types of coffee like Latte, Mocha, and other mixed Coffee types. It is a type of coffee, which is native to Italy, that is made out of ground coffee beans. The texture of the ground coffee is a bit thicker than that of Turkish Coffees. Espresso is usually made in small cups, which makes it really thick and bitter in texture, therefore you might want to mix it with water to make an Americano, or mix it with milk to make a Latte.

11. Eel

Eel is a type of fish that has ray type fins. It has a cylindrical shape, looking just like a snake in the sea. An Eel size varies from 60 to 80 cm, an American Eel is about 50 cm and a Short-finned Eel is about 90 centimeters long. But, since we are at JarKitchen, we will be focusing on the place of Eel in cuisines from all around the world. Eels are generally consumed in Asian Cuisine like Japanese or Chinese Cuisine.

Being one of the foods that start with E, It can be cooked in many different ways like frying, boiling, grilling, etc. For example, you can barbeque an Eel by putting in on medium heat, grill each side for 3-4 minutes depending on how crispy you want it to be, then pour white wine over it. Get a palm leaf, put it on a big plate, serve the Eel on the palm leaf, and be sure to garnish with fresh flowers.

12. Emu Apple

Emu Apples are native to Australia. In the eastern parts of Australia where these Apples are growing, old native people also know the taste of this fruit and regularly consumed them. In fact, the explorer named Major Mitchell tasted one of these apples on his expedition and almost got addicted to it. The fruits must be buried underground for a couple of days before consuming. The taste of the apples increases with this method. In cases of starvation, one can also directly consume it. The fruits have a sour flavor and cause hallucinations.

Edamame also have high protein content and can be eaten as a snack between meals. Their high protein content will make you feel full for a longer period of time.

14. Enset

Ensete Ventricosum, or a.k.a Enset, is a false banana. The domesticated version of this plan only grows in Ethiopia. They can grow in narrower spaces when compared to grains but they also feed more people.

This is like the bread for Ethiopian people because after fermenting a part of this plant, they pestle it in a mortar and make a bread called Kocho. From its leaves, people can make threads and their fruits can be eaten in cases of starvation. They can also be used in the construction of new buildings. The plant is basically made of water, air, and fibers. The water inside the leaves can be kept safe within the leaves for years to come. That is why this plant is the most important plant in Ethiopian cuisine.

15. Embutido

Already halfway on our list of foods that start with E! Embutido is a Mexican dish but it is also cooked in many styles including the Filipino style. Embutido is known to be eaten/consumed during holidays but people are gladly eating it anytime during any day. In the supermarkets, you can get your hands on a commercial one but if you are wondering how it is made and what’s in it, you have come to the right place. It is an appetizer when consumed cold, and considered as a main dish when served hot with fried rice. It contains ground pork, hard-boiled eggs, tomato sauce, green and red bell pepper, carrots, onion, and breadcrumbs.

16. Enchiladas

Enchiladas will surely give your kitchen a Mexican flavor. It is one of the foods that start with E and it is a dish made by putting various stuffings in a tortilla, which is produced from corn. Then you need to pour some hot sauce on it and roll the tortilla. It is originated in Mexico but now it is currently in American cuisine. Stuffing usually includes meat, fish, cheese, beans, potatoes, and various vegetables, or a combination of some of these.

The first written usage of Enchilada took place in 1831 in Mexico in a book which is called El cocinero mexicano. El cocinero mexicano is an anonymously printed cookbook. The history of this delicious dish goes back to the Aztecs or Mayans.

17. Empanadas

Empanadas are one of the foods that start with E
Empanadas look like chinese dumplings

It is a dish that is made in Spain, Mexico, the Philippines, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Ecuador, Columbia, and Venezuela by stuffing dough. It is called Saltena in Bolivia and it is expected, that dish from the list of foods that start with E, received its name from a city in Argentina, “Salta”.

Let us talk about the version that is made in Spain. The dough is a leaven. The stuffing is basically paprika, pepper, tomatoes, onions, and upon wish tuna, squid, or octopus-like other seafood or minced meat. Spanish Empanadas is about 30 centimeters in diameter or covers the whole tray.

We are still in our list of foods that start with E!. Now let us speak about the version that is made in Argentina, where this is believed to be originated. In Argentina, they are about 10 centimeters big and have a crescent-like shape. The most famous types of empanadas in Argentina are Meat Empanadas, Chicken Empanadas, Ham & Cheese (sounds yummy!), and other stuffed Empanadas which may include tuna, onions, spinach, etc.).

18. Elbow Macaroni

Being one of the foods that start with E, you surely know what an Elbow Macaroni is! This amazing shape of pasta is very famous with a recipe… Can you guess what that is? Of course! It is Macaroni and Cheese! A very easy to make Macaroni and Cheese (Mac n Cheese) is to fill a cup with Elbow Macaroni, pour milk to the top, and put some cheddar on it. Microwave it for 5 minutes and Voila! Take the cup out of the Microvawe oven, mix it and you will see how the cheddar is melted and blended with the aroma of the milk. I might even make one this evening 🙂

This is an ideal dish for students and for people that do not have much time to cook. For example, as a white-collar employee, I do not always have the time to cook a nice dish, I want to get something easy without ordering a pizza. If your job is on a computer all day, your only chance to stop yourself from being fat is, that you have to move and prefer healthy foods. Well, at least Mac n Cheese made with Elbow Macaroni is not so unhealthy as eating a burger from Mc Donalds!

19. Earthnut

Earthnut is also one of the foods that start with E, but you may have heard the name of this nut differently. The famous name of this nut is peanut. Yes! Peanut is actually an Earthnut. Earthnuts have been used in many different dishes and cuisines. They are very versatile and can grow in harsh environments, which made them a good option to feed on in the past too. They are very high in protein so they are often consumed by fitness lovers or bodybuilders as snacks.

Peanut butter is one of the most enjoyable ways of consuming peanuts. If it is made organically without any preservers or additives, you will see that it is not that delicious to eat alone, but goes really good with Jam. Peanut Butter & Jam are the best friends of kids of course.

To eat Earthnuts, you need to peel off the shells and get the nuts in it. They are also preferred to be eaten along with pistachios, cashews, and Brazil nuts. You will not be able to give up on this snack mix while having a beer with your friends! Well, it is better to eat nuts than eating chips right?

20. Edam

Next food in our list of foods that start with E is Edam. Edam is a cheese that is originated in Netherlands. That country is really famous with their cheese. I still cannot forget the taste of that old Gouda I have tasted in my trip to Amsterdam. Yes Amsterdam 😉

But our topic is Edam. Edam is a semi-hard cheese. It takes its name from a village called Edam in Northern Holland State in Netherlands. It is usually sold as a wheel, protected by a parafin wax shell. For Edam cheeses that are not exported and sold within the country, they do not have protective wax around them. Edam was actually one of the most popular cheeses between 14. and 18. centuries.

It is also a very durable cheese, can go on for a week without spoiling. Which makes it a good option to consume along with crackers in events or at home watching TV with your family. Edam Cheese Crackers are also one of the foods that start with E.

21. Endive

Endive is a vegetable. So, if you like your veggies, be sure to give Endive a try! One of the foods that start with E, Endive is a leaf vegetable in the family of Genus Cichorum. This family is known for its bitter, taste. It is also one of the foods that start with E.

Endive is actually a relative of Escarole. The difference between Endive and Escarole is that Endive has narrow, green, and curly outer leaves. It is sometimes named as Chicory in the United States of America. They are high in fibers, so this makes it a good option to improve our intestinal health and they will make your metabolism faster. Eating foods that are high in fiber is a must in a day. Be sure to eat your vegetables! They also contain protein which is 1.25g/100g. Be sure to include this one in your diet. This was the 21st food in our list of foods that start with E.

They are, as said, bitter vegetables when eaten raw. But, if you cook them a bit, they turn nutty and mild, making them more edible. Throw your Endives in a pot of boiling water for one or two minutes, so you can get rid of that sharp taste. After that, you can include them in your salads or dressings. Just like broccoli, you do not want to boil them too much, otherwise, they lose their taste and texture.

22. Escargots

Cooked escaroles with pistachio sauce
Escargots are land snails

Some of you may find this food from our list of foods that start with E a little disturbing. I do not know if you eat snails or not but Escargots are actually land snails. Escargot means snail in French. Escargots is a dish that is made by cooked and of course edible land snails. They are actually served as an hors d’oeuvre at meals. They are often consumed by French people but Germans, Brits, Italians, and Spanish people also eat Escargots. After that, it is needless to say, that Escargots are very popular in Europe. 🙂

In French cuisine, Escargots are killed and removed from their shells and cooked with garlic butter, wine, or chicken stock! After that, you can put them back in their shells with the butter and the sauce and they are ready to be served. Me personally, I have never eaten snails in my life, I am not sure if I will in the future, but I surely want to give them a try! Just be sure to garnish Escargots with garlic, thyme, pine nuts, and parsley! Escargot Soup is also one of the foods that start with E.

23. Eclair

Eclair is one of my favorite desserts in the world and they are known almost all around the world. Being one of the foods that start with E, Eclair is a dessert with a really nice and soft dough. Usually, between the dough, you find vanilla cream, and the top is covered with melted chocolate and white chocolate for dressing. You can sometimes see Eclairs also filled with coffee or rum cream or even fruit or chestnut fillings.

May food historians say that Eclair is originated in France in the 19th Century. It is believed that Marie-Antoine Careme, the cook of the royal family first made this dessert and it is getting more and more famous ever since. Eclairs serve as the best munchies. Eclair means “Thunder” in French and the reason why it is named after thunder is that you can eat it easily in one bite only! After that, you will feel the exploding taste of the filling inside, along with the softness of its dough and the chocolate topping above it. My god, this is the perfect mix!

24. Elephant Ears

Elephant Ears are the 24th food on our list of foods that start with E. They are actually one of the Fried Doughs you can find out there. They are served very often at carnival-booths. So if you have visited a carnival when you were young in the United States of America, you probably know what Elephant Ears are! I am saying USA, because they are especially famous in the American Cuisine.

How to make Elephant Ears at home you ask? You need to combine milk, salt, sugar and shortening. Heat until shortening melts and the sugar dissolves. After that let cool and add yeast. Next step is to add the flour. Start kneading in a large bowl until it gets smooth, cover it and let rise for 30 minutes. Just make 1 to 2 inches balls from the dough and throw them in the deep fryer. Drain on paper towels, sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on them and they are ready to be served and eaten!

25. Elk Jerky

In this one, we are going to talk about Elk Jerky, which is one of the foods that start with E. Jerky in general is a lean trimmed meat that was cut into strips and dehydrated to prevent them from spoiling. To prevent the meat from spoiling because of the bacteria, you need to add salt so that spoilage does not begin before dehydration. The word jerky is actually a Quechua word ch’arki, meaning dried and slated meat. To produce a basic & original jerky, what you need is a low temperature environment and of course as said above, salt to inhibit the bacterial growth.

Another method of making dried or dehydrated meat is the Biltong, which is actually a different technique. Because it uses a combination of both salt and vinegar to inhibit bacterial growth. However, using the Biltong method, you can start the dehydrating process in a room temperature environment thanks to the vinegar applied to the meat.

Elk Jerky is usually made with the basic Jerky method. It is important to choose the right Elk Jerky because the Elk needs to be free of growth hormones or steroids. That way, you can maximize the taste of the Elk, and of course, then it is organic. Always prefer organic food if you can! Elk Meat is also one of the foods that start with E.

26. Elderberries

Black-red Elderberries on an elderyberry bush
Elderberries must not be eaten raw

Elderberries are one of the most commonly used medicinal plants and are also one of the most consumed berries in the world. Of course, the competition is not against strawberries or blueberries 😛

In the past, native American people used Elderberries to heal the infections, Egyptian people used it for make-up purposes. In Europe, it is still gathered and used as folk medicine. Now in the 21st century, Elderberries are one of the best ways to deal with the symptoms of cold, just like Tylol Hot! If you are looking for a herbal solution instead of giving yourself up to the chemicals, you may prefer getting some Elderberries in return.

There is a downside though, the berries (if eaten raw), the bark, and the leaves of the plant are poisonous and mostly cause stomach problems in most people. So, if you are out camping, you need to know that the Elderberries need to be cooked before eating. The flowers of the plant though can be eaten raw without cooking. Of course, you can cook them too but this is totally up to you. They have a muscat-like aroma which you will like if you like muscat. We are now closing to the end of our list of foods that start with E.

27. Ekwang

Ekwang is an african dish that we think you do not know about and the reason it is on this list is, because it is one of the foods that start with E.

It is very time consuming to make but the result will be exotic. You might want to try this one! For real! Ekwang is also known as ekpang nkukwo. This dish is a traditional Nigerian dish. Ekwang is made of freshly grated cocoyam. Grated cocoyams are then to be wrapped in leafy greens and slowly simmered in a pot with a variety of smoked meat, crayfish, fish, spices, and red oil.

But be careful! There are many types of cocoyam, for Ekwang however, red cocoyam is the best one to go with.

28. Ecrevisse

Ecrevisse are freshwater crustaceans that look like small lobsters. They are biologically related to Lobsters. They are also known as Crayfish or freshwater lobsters. It is one of the foods that start with E.

Ecrevisse are eaten worldwide. Just like lobster, only a small part of the Ecrevisse can be eaten, the rest is the crust. But here what’s important is the delicious meat under the crust. Since lobster is a big crustacean, its meat can be extracted easily but this is not the case with the Ecrevisse. Mostly, only the tail portion is served with soups or bisques. At other meals, the entirety of the body is presented on a plate for decoration of course. But can almost only eat the meat inside the tail or the claws.

29. Escalope

Escalope schnitzel is one of the foods that start with E
Escalope Schnitzel

Escalope is actually a boneless piece of meat. Being one of the foods that start with E, Escalope is made thin using a malled or a rolling pin. Of course, to do this, you can also get a cup from the kitchen counter and start smashing until it gets thing enough to be an Escalope.

This operation breaks the fibers in the meat, resulting in a more tender texture. The problem with the thin meat is, that it cooks faster and tends to lose more juice (moisture) when cooked. Therefore it is often coated and then fried for a short time. In the United States, to cut is also known as “scallop” but you should not confuse it with the shellfish scallop. 🙂

For example, schnitzel is like an Escalope. You get the chicken, beat it until it gets thin, dip it in eggs and then breadcrumbs, and then deep fry! After that, you will get a golden color, a crispy outside, and a juice inside. Yummy!

30. EVOO – Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the last item on our list of foods that start with E and the best type of olive oil you can find out there. Its smell and taste does not have any flaws, contains 1% maximum oleic acid in 100 grams. The natural properties of the olive fruit are not touched by any chemicals whatsoever. The taste, smell, and vitamins are preserved completely.

The acidity is almost zero and this is why we say that the oil is “extra virgin”. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced from the first squeeze of the olive paste. If you want more information about the types of Olive Oil, be sure to give this website a visit. And of course, needless to say, Extra Virgin Olive Oil is one of the foods that start with E.

Xanthan Gum has many industrial uses because it is being used as an all-purpose thickener. It goes really well with gravies and sauces. Xanthan Gum is a product of fermentation of corn sugar. It is is also one of the foods that start with X.

Xanthan Gum is a great substitute for gelatin in recipes with the purpose of stabilizing suspensions. The upside of the Xanthan Gum is, that it is vegan. Gelatin comes from animals, rendering it non-vegan. There are many people out there that show allergic reactions to dairy, soy, and eggs. Xanthan Gum is a great substitute for using gelatin.

Usage of Xanthan Gam

Furthermore, you do not need to cool or heat the Xanthan Gum to get the jelly texture. It just jellifies after getting in contact with a liquid. It is not affected by Acid or heat, making it a perfect substitute for gelatin, because it can be used in a very wide variety of juices and sauces.

The ideal amount to use Xanthan Gum in your recipes is, to use about 1/8 teaspoon of Xanthan Gum per cup of liquid. The mixture is then to be blended with a blender. If you try to blend it with your hands, you will not catch up to its jellifying speed, resulting in clumps in the mixture. That is why it needs to be constantly blended/mixed in the process of making.

To form the best texture, you should first blend the Xanthan Gum with oil, then you should apply soy milk or rice milk into it. This will result in the best possible texture. This way, the sauce will be rich and deep in taste, which is normally achieved by cream, eggs, or butter. The mix will get thicker as you add more Xanthan Gum into it. Keep on reading! We are almost at the end.

It also has many dried fruits inside, this way the fruity flavor gets combined with the alcohol, creating an amazing taste to warm up your belly after eating it. Yum! Just what I need on a snowy winter day.

A tip while making christmas cake, you need to feed it with alcohol in advance to both keep it moist and increase the alcohol content. You should stop feeding it with alcohol, so that the top crust gets dry and you will have the ability to perform the icing much better.

Xiphias is served with peas and sweet potatoes on a white plate, also one of the foods that start with X

Xiphias means swordfish in Greek. Not many people eat swordfish but there are recipes, especially in Greece that are made with this kind of fish. Xiphias is also called broadbills in English. We can say for sure, that Swordfish is classified as an oily fish. However, you should be warned, that Swordfish meat has high toxicity levels that may lead to poisoning. It contains methylmercury, so it is recommended by the FDA, that children and pregnant women should not eat Xiphias meat.

Another interesting information about Xiphias meat is, that they can sometimes have an orange-tint in color. This is caused by their diets, especially if the fish has eaten lot of shrimps. These Swordfishes are called pumpkin swordfish, and they are way more expensive than their white counterparts.

Not like other fishes that you consume on a regular basis, this fish is mainly sold in forms of steaks. This is because the Swordfish is.. well.. a big fish. Since it is mostly sold as a steak, most popular option to cook this fish is to grill it. Imagine eating swordfish grilled on a skewer! My god, that would be amazing. I should totally give it a try next time when I’m at the East Coast. In the East Coast of USA, Swordfish usually have a rosier flesh, which should look great on a grill!

Conclusion

This list was actually harder to craft when compared to other articles of ours in our Foodcyclopedia. Because as stated above, there are not many foods that start with X. Mainly they are from the Asian region because they have many foods that start with an X.

I have taken a look at the list again and was wondering which one my favorite is. I think my favorite would be the Xalapa Punch because I am in love with cocktails! If you also love cocktails and if you love making cocktails at home, I suggest you read the Fine Art of Mixing Drinks by David A. Embury. Be sure to leave a comment and tell us what your favorite was. See you in another article!

  • Large Reservoir: Water “Depot” up to 75 oz.
  • Easy Interface: Can make iced coffee
  • Integrated Clock: Integrated Clock will be your best friend in the kitchen
  • Smart Start: Insert the K-Cup, the machine will brew when the water is heated automatically

Cons

  • Descaling Trouble: It is not specific to this machine, but a maintenance every 3 months is recommended
  • Large in Size: Find a space before you buy this one because it is a bit big
  • K-Cups only: Still only K-Cups officially. You can buy extra stuff to customize the machine

Nespresso Pixie

You will find this machine very interesting. Being one of the best single serve coffee makers and being smaller than the other machines, it does not have many options/features as the other ones. However, it is not your usual coffee machine, stay with us to see more.

Elegant Design and Structure

The design of this machine always brings me back to the times where I was in France for a Student Exchange Program. It is small, elegant and looks luxurious. It has got Thermoblock heating technology that makes it possible to heat the water in thirty seconds only!

It has got a folding drip tray, maximizing the flexibility of the cup’s position.

User Interface

The experience can be changed, altered and enhanced to your taste by programming the machine.

LED Indicators make the machine easier to use by showing the user that the water tank is empty. Buttons have backlighting so that you can also brew in the dark, for example, while watching a movie with the lights off.

Power and Water Reservoir

The water reservoir can hold up to 24oz. of water. The size of the machine is small after all, so this is no surprise.

The water pump in this little beast can pump the water with a pressure of 19bar. The pressure of water is one of the main things that affect the taste of the coffee.

Pros

  • Brewing Time: This machine can brew coffee very fast thanks to its powerful pump
  • Taste: Coffee tastes good with this machine
  • Programmability: You can program the taste!
  • The design: The design and material are of quality. Looking luxurious
  • Nespresso Club: Buy your capsules from Nespresso Club and receive personalized coffee tips!

Cons

  • Original Capsules: Only the capsules of Nespresso will work, which are a bit more expensive than the usuals
  • Price: Price is high when compared to the same class of machines

Keurig K575

Keurig K575 is a new generation of Keurig machines. It has a newer function and features and one of the best single serve coffee makers. Let’s take a look at them.

Design and Structure

For me, design is very important. Not that I live in a very luxurious and expensive apartment, you can make simple look good! I like the metal color and this machine has it. It has that smooth platinum finishing on it, making it look more expensive than it looks actually. Only the Best Single Coffee Makers can look elegant, classy and can make tasty coffee at the same time.

The size is a hustle with this one. The machine is big and that brings a lot of benefits. Big size means higher power and a larger water reservoir, but also hard to fit in the house. If you have a small kitchen, be sure to measure the places you would want to put this machine on before buying it. Because if you are looking to buy one of the best single serve coffee makers, you need to consider every aspect.

The Taste

It can look like it came from American Psycho and look fantastic (In my opinion), it is not going to be worth anything if the brewed coffee tastes like coffee from yesterday.

This machine makes good coffee. Not exactly like the ones, you drink outside at expensive cafes, but this machine is not industrial grade.

Strong Coffee Mode is also available in this single serve coffee maker. The strong mode makes your coffee richer but do not expect a huge difference in the taste.

Features and Performance

Keurig K575 brings a lot of customization to the play. Cup sizes vary at 4-6-8-10-12 oz. and guess what, this baby can also brew a carafe. Carafes vary at 22-26-30 oz. Amazing for caffeine lovers!

This machine works with K-Cups of course. If you are going to brew a carafe, you need a K-Carafe capsule. The only difference is the amount of coffee in them. The coffee required to make a 30 oz. carafe and 4 oz. cup of coffee should not be the same right?

Temperature control is really important for the taste of the coffee. Some coffees taste better at low temperatures and some at higher temperatures. Not you can adjust this with this machine!

Pros

  • Brewing Time: Fast operation
  • Taste: Can be enhanced by changing the temperature control
  • Programmability: You can program the taste!
  • The design: So many size options, perfect for a family!
  • Reusable Pods: Support reusable pods to make regular filtered coffee

Cons

  • Original Capsules: Only the capsules of Keurig will work
  • Size: It is large in size when compared to other machines
  • Strong Mode: Is not that effective some users say

BUNN MCU

This machine does not look like a normal single serve coffee maker, because it looks like a metal block. Looks very simple from the outside, let’s review BUNN MCU and learn more about it.

Design and Structure

From an aesthetic aspect, it has a really simple design. To be honest it is a little bit too simple. For me, at my first look, I tasted rust in this coffee. Just like the coffee maker of Ted from How I met your mother “Rusty”.

From the structural view, it has multiple compartments like drawers, in which you can put any ingredients. E.g. K-Pods, capsules, tea bags, etc. This provides VERY high flexibility to its users. The best use case for this machine would be offices where everyone can bring their own ingredient. If it was to brew K-Pods only, then everybody would have to bring K-Pods, but with this one, everyone can drink what they like!

Ease of Use

The user interface is very simple for inexperienced users. Just press the button and it will start brewing in Brewpulses. It pressurizes the air between pulses for maximum brewing efficiency and taste. To further control the taste, you can put less water in the reservoir so that the taste gets richer! No wonder why this one is on the list of Best Single Serve Coffee Makers.

Performance

This pressure beast can brew an 8 oz. cup of coffee in only 42 seconds. Where Keurig K75 can do that in 42 seconds too, but not 8 oz., a 7.25 oz!

Pros

  • Ingredient: K-Pods, Ground coffee, Teabags
  • Brewing Speed: in only 42 seconds
  • Reusability: No paper coffee filter needed

Cons

  • Water Reservoir: Reservoir cannot be detached
  • Drip Water Tray: Cannot be detached
  • Power Button: There is no power button to turn the machine on or off

Best Roaster Oven: Ultimate Top 10 2020 Review

Top 10 Best Roaster Ovens: Ultimate 2020 Review

What is a roaster oven?

These appliances have been around for a while now, but have slowly begun to gain popularity, as more and more people start to recognize their benefits. As the name might suggest, a roaster oven is a small, countertop device that roasts food. It is very similar to a conventional oven and can be powered by either gas or electrical coils. The machine can cook at temperatures anywhere between 200 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit and is capable of making any meal delicious.

What are the benefits of a roaster oven?

There are several reasons that a roaster oven can be a great investment. It can actually be superior to a conventional oven, in a range of different situations:

  • They allow cooking to retain more moisture

One of the worst things about cooking a roast is accidentally leaving it in for too long, and drying the meat out. A roast should be juicy and tender, no matter what type of meat it is. A roaster oven is smaller and compact, and this means that heat and moisture are circling directly around the cooking food. This is opposed to a larger conventional oven, where the moisture can easily dissipate. A tightly-fitting lid helps to ensure that no moisture escapes. It leaves it to permeate the roast, resulting in the perfect meal.

  • They can cook a lot faster

Thanks to their smaller size, they heat a lot faster than a conventional oven. It can allow you to get started on your meals a lot quicker. This is great if you’re trying to whip up a quick but yummy dinner, or if you would just prefer to spend your time doing other things than just stand in the kitchen checking on everything.

  • They are versatile

A roaster oven can be used not only to roast but to bake, steam, slow cook, even grill foods. This versatility can also help to eliminate other single-use appliances that are taking up space in your kitchen and are rarely used. You don’t need to just roast meat in one of these ovens, you can cook vegetables, create gravy from the drippings, make soup, the list goes on. The only limit to these appliances is your imagination.

  • They cook food evenly

A roaster oven is small, so the entire contents are a lot closer to the heating mechanism than in a conventional oven. The shape of the roaster oven also helps to retain heat as it tries to escape out the top, meaning that food is cooked evenly. You don’t need to worry about turning your food and making sure that all sides are cooked – the roasting oven does that for you.

  • They are small

If you are incredibly tight on space, your kitchen might not even have a full-sized conventional oven, let alone room for another bulky appliance. You can easily find very small models that are designed to fit into small spaces but are still capable of cooking a significant amount of food at a time. These can easily fit into regular-sized cupboards when not in use, giving you full access to your benchtops. Or if you don’t have enough storage space, simply leave them out on the counter. Their sleek and modern designs will look at home in any kitchen without creating the appearance of clutter, and this way they are always on hand.

  • They provide you with more cooking space

If you have ever tried to prepare a Thanksgiving meal or any other meal for a large group of people, you know that you need all of the cooking space you can get. There are so many elements of the meal that must be cooked at once, and oven space is limited. A roaster oven provides you with some extra, much-needed space, and allows you to cook various kinds of foods with little supervision from you, leaving you free to focus on other things. It can also be used in different ways so that you can cook in multiple ways at once.

For example, you may be using your oven to bake, and you can easily roast food in the roaster oven simultaneously, ensuring that everything is ready at the same time.

  • Great for reheating food

Microwaving leftovers often leads to a disappointing meal, and reheating food in a conventional oven just takes far too long. A roaster oven will quickly warm up and reheat your meal, and won’t leave it overly soggy or overly dry like microwaves tend to do.

Here are some of the best roaster ovens on the market right now:

Although there are so many brands that offer a huge range of models available, we have handpicked some of the best for you. This list is designed to give you an idea of what kind of quality roaster ovens you should be looking for, as well as what extra features are available, that you might like to take advantage of.

Sunvivi Electric

Sunvivi Electric Roaster Oven has an aluminum finish, with a black lid

If you’re looking for a great roaster oven, you can’t go past this model by Sunvivi. This roaster is incredibly powerful and can reach temperatures of up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. If you are looking for an appliance that is small but gets the job done right, go for this roaster. It has an 18-quart capacity, perfect for cooking large roasts, without taking up too much space. Some larger models can cook food for larger groups of people, but this tends to be enough for most gatherings.

The lid of this roaster is self-basting, and it continuously circulates moisture throughout the cooking time. You no longer have to worry about your meat going dry, as the Sunvivi roaster takes care of that for you. The lid also has a cool-touch handle, you can easily remove it to check on cooking without worrying about potential burns.

Sunvivi Electric Warming Setting

One of the most convenient features of this roaster is the warming setting. You have spent all this time and effort to create such a delicious meal, you don’t want it to go cold while you wait for your dinner guests to arrive. You also don’t want it to dry out while you try and keep it warm in the oven. All you need to do is switch your roaster to warm (at a cooler temperature than the cooking functions), and it will keep your food heated, and ready to eat. The anti-scald handles also mean that you don’t need to worry about burning yourself as you transport the roaster, or attempt to get the food out of it – the outside stays completely cool, to avoid any burning.

One of the downsides to this model is that although the interior pan and cooking rack can be removed, there is no convenient way to do this. The rack does not have easy to grip handles, which can make meat difficult to extract when the appliance is still hot from cooking.

Pros

  • Can roast, bake, and slow-cook
  • Easy to clean
  • Can be used at a range of different temperatures, from 200 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Cool-touch handles prevent unnecessary burns

Cons

  • Some customers have complained that the roaster does not sit level, which can lead to potential hazards if it falls
  • The rack doesn’t have convenient handles

Oster Roaster Oven

Oster Roaster Oven has a plastic-like led, with a dial-setting to change the temperature

This is a slightly larger roaster, with a 22-quart capacity that can hold a turkey weighing up to 26 pounds. If you are in charge of Thanksgiving dinner for the whole family, then this roaster definitely has you covered. This roaster is versatile and can be used to roast, slow cook, and bake a range of delicious meals. If you don’t have the space for an oven, this also works as a great alternative.

The lid of this roaster helps to retain moisture inside the appliance, acting as a self-baster for your food. You don’t need to worry about your meat getting dry, or needing to remember to manually baste your roasting meat. The appliance takes care of all of that for you. The lid also helps to retain and circulate the heat so that all parts of your dish are evenly cooked, without requiring constant turning. This leaves you free to focus on other aspects of the meal or to enjoy time with your guests while your main course cooks.

Very easy to handle!

Another bonus for this appliance is the fact that the cooking tray has easy to reach handles. When your food has finished roasting (or cooking using any of the other functions), you can easily and cleanly remove it from the oven. Although these handles will inevitably be hot, they will be much easier to handle than attempting to grab the meat itself, and potentially damaging it presentation-wise.

Once you have removed the roasted meat, you can also use the drippings at the bottom of the pan to help you create the gravy. This helps you create a rich, delicious gravy the traditional way. It also ensures that all components of your meal are created perfectly and that nothing goes to waste.

Pros

  • Large enough for a 26-pound turkey
  • Easy to clean
  • Self-basting lid

Cons

  • Sometimes the temperature gauge can be a little off, cooking things hotter (and therefore faster) than anticipated
  • The outside can get very hot, which can lead to potential hazards in the kitchen
  • Quite heavy – this can make it difficult to move

If you want to know more about the Oster Roaster Oven, we have created a detailed review of it. Be sure to check it out in our other article!

Hamilton Beach

Hamilton Beach is one of the biggest roaster ovens

If you are looking for a larger model that is capable of feeding the whole family or congregation, this might be the oven roaster for you. With a 22-quart capacity, it has more room than the regular roasting ovens, which tend to come in an 18-quart size. The slightly domed lid also helps to provide valuable space when you are trying to roast a large turkey or another piece of meat.

This roaster has been designed for your convenience. The style is sleek enough that you can serve dinner straight out of the pot if you want to keep your food warm and avoid unnecessary dishes. The rack inside also has convenient handles so you can cleanly and easily remove the meat to plate it if you want a slightly classier option. The handles will be hot after the cooking is completed. But it is far easier to maneuver a tray than attempting to move the actual meat itself.

Very easy to clean

Cleaning this roaster is a breeze. Simply remove the interior pan and tray from the roaster, giving you easy access to any potential stubborn stains. The stainless steel outer pan can also easily be wiped down, getting rid of any grease or splashes that occurred in the cooking process.

The temperature on this roaster can be set anywhere between 150 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit. This ensures it gets hot enough to cook meat, but the heat can be reduced to 150, to allow food inside to stay warm until it is ready to be served.

Pros

  • 22-quart capacity
  • Can be used at a range of different temperatures (150 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • The lid is domed, providing even more cooking space

Cons

  • Some customers have indicated that the temperatures indicated on the roaster is not always accurate – can go above or below the specified temperature
  • Some customers have also complained of a strong, electric burning smell coming from the machine when it is first used

NESCO MWR18-14 Roaster Oven

NESCO Roaster looks like an electric stove and is white in color

This roaster oven can be easily pulled apart for your convenience. There is a rack that you can place your meat on, with handles that allow you to easily pull it out of the roaster. The interior cook well can also be removed from the main, heated exterior. You can store this in the fridge with leftovers still in it, or you can take it apart to clean it (and the exterior) thoroughly.

Although this is not the largest roaster oven on the market, it still provides enough cooking space to be sufficient for an average-sized family. The 18-quart capacity will still easily fit a turkey, so you are still covered for Thanksgiving. There is also more than enough room for other smaller, meals to be cooked, such as vegetables or soup. The temperature can be set anywhere between 200 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit, giving you almost the same versatility as an oven, at just a fraction of the cost and size.

A Great Insulator

The enamel exterior of this roasting oven comes with its pros and cons. It acts as a great insulator, helping to heat your cooking food faster and keep it warmer for longer after it has finished cooking. But this also heats the exterior of your roaster oven, which can become a potential hazard in the kitchen, especially if there are young children around.

This NESCO model does have a red warning light on the front to indicate that it is on and that it is hot. Which may help to alleviate some potential burns. But if you unplug the roaster immediately after you have finished cooking, you lose this warning system before the appliance has a chance to cool down – always take care.

Pros

  • Easy to clean (interior can be washed in the dishwasher)
  • Cool-touch handles designed for safety

Cons

  • Not as large as some of the other roaster ovens available
  • The outside of the roaster can heat up to dangerous levels

EaZy oberdome Roaster Oven

EaZy BrandZ has a red lid with the ability to set the temperature on it

This is the ultimate portable roaster. It weighs only 5 pounds and is perfect for cooking food in an RV, or on a camping trip. All it needs is access to an electrical outlet, and you are good to start cooking. You can of course also use this at home to create delicious meals, without taking up too much space on a countertop.

Unlike most other roaster ovens, this model heats food from the lid, not the bottom. This helps to cook the food faster and more evenly, as heat is distributed throughout the oven. This unique method is also part of the reason that this roaster model is capable of cooking food up to 51% faster than a conventional oven, providing you with food that is ready to eat quicker, and just as yummy.

Cooks really fast!

Because it is such a small appliance, it heats up a lot faster – it is ready to go in just six minutes. If convenience is an important factor when trying to find the right roaster oven, then this might just be the model for you. It’s so small and compact it can easily tuck away in a corner of your kitchen until you are ready to use it. The bright red design might be considered an eyesore for some. But it helps to add a bright pop of color to your kitchen, and will also prevent you from ever misplacing and losing it.

The size of this roaster oven means that it will not be the greatest option for people looking to cater to a large audience. However, if you are very limited on space, or are looking for a portable cooking utensil, then this is a great choice. Because of its diverse functionality, it can perform a wide range of tasks. Allowing you to get rid of single-use appliances that just take up space without getting their money’s worth.

Pros

  • Compact and great for travel
  • Saves energy (only requires 850 watts)
  • Faster cooking times

Cons

  • Not great for trying to cook larger dishes

Rival Roaster

Rival Roaster Oven looks very professional and is completely black

Make full use of this rival roaster, with a wide range of temperatures available. The oven can reach heats of up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, and also can be lowered down to 150 degrees to keep food warm while your guests arrive. Furthermore, this model is designed specifically to cook a turkey perfectly, hence can also be used to bake and slow-cook meats and vegetables so that you can make full use of the appliance with a diverse range of meals. You can even simmer your gravy in the roaster, leaving your oven and stovetop free for other dishes.

This may not be the largest roaster oven available, however, it is still more than capable of cooking a turkey weighing up to 22 pounds. The heat gets evenly distributed around the oven so that all parts of the bird are cooked evenly, without drying out. In addition, The compactness of this oven means that you still have so much free kitchen space to devote to cooking other elements of a meal, ensuring that everything can get done.

Distinctive Feature

Something that separates this roaster oven from the rest on the market is the fact that this one is made from porcelain, not stainless steel. Customers may prefer this, as it does provide a very different aesthetic when placed in the kitchen. Furthermore, some people believe that it can create a slightly different taste in foods, as the porcelain retains heat differently. In addition, most people shouldn’t have any issues with the way that it roasts foods. But that doesn’t mean that porcelain is a better choice. It is far more likely to shatter if dropped (no matter how thick the sides and lid are), and it is even more likely to rust than stainless steel.

Pros

  • Removable parts for easy cleaning
  • Capable of cooking significant amounts of food despite the relatively average size

Cons

  • The maximum capacity is only 18 quarts
  • The porcelain is prone to rusting quickly

Mainstay Turkey Roaster Oven

Premium roaster oven of MAINSTAYS will blow the mind of the turkey you are going to cook in it. It has a black metallic finish on the outside

If you are looking for a no-fuss roaster oven, then this is the appliance for you. The Mainstay turkey roaster oven is designed specifically for creating the perfect turkey centerpiece for your Thanksgiving dinner, as well as a range of other features that will help you to get full use out of it. It strives to deliver perfect results every time, no matter what you are cooking.

This is a 14-quart appliance, capable of holding up to a 20-pound turkey. Although this is not the largest roaster oven on the market, it gets the job done. Especially for those who only need to serve a smaller amount of guests. The domed lid also helps to provide extra space when cooking. It’s compactness also comes in handy when trying to store it. It will not take up too much space on your counter or in your cupboard.

The price point is a significant downside – $80.00 is more expensive than a lot of the other models on the market. However, this is not the 80 dollar option above. There is nothing extra that this model offers that would justify the higher cost, but it does have positive reviews, suggesting that people are still satisfied with it. If you can afford to splurge to make sure you cook the perfect turkey then go ahead, but for those on a tighter budget, this might not be the oven for you.

Not very compact

Another thing that you should be aware of before purchasing this model is the fact that it does not come apart. Most roaster ovens have a removable insert that makes cleaning so much easier. When you are finished cooking, simply remove the inner tray to clean it thoroughly. After that, wipe down the outside of the appliance. This model does not function like this. Some people may be perfectly fine with this, as it means that the whole machine must get cleaned, as opposed to just the insert, but others do find this inconvenient.

Pros

  • Small and compact
  • Sleek design
  • Many reviews say that this cooks turkey perfectly

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Relatively small compared to some of the other models available
  • Doesn’t come apart for easy cleaning

Oster Roaster Oven with Buffet Server

Oster Roaster oven with Buffet Server is the ideal roaster for parties

The main draw to this roaster oven is the unique buffet server insert. The roaster oven comes with a tray that has three separate inserts. That way you can serve three different types of food from the same roaster oven. The roaster oven itself has a sleek enough design that it won’t look out of place on your table. The best part about using the buffet server insert in the roaster oven is that it will help to retain heat, keeping your food warm throughout your meal. Guests don’t need to worry about food getting cold and unappetizing – they can eat at their own pace, and come back for delicious seconds whenever they are ready.

Compared to a conventional oven, this is a faster, and more energy-efficient method of cooking. Oster claims that this is 36% more energy-efficient than a regular conventional oven, and it cooks food 30% faster too. So, which roaster oven is the best to buy?

There is no single model that is superior to others, you have to buy based according to your needs. If you need an appliance that can roast a turkey big enough to feed everyone on Thanksgiving, opt for one of the larger models. In case you have a tiny kitchen and only need a device that can cook enough food for a few people, then you can look at something smaller. Let’s say, that you like the idea of a roaster oven but are more interested in their versatility. Then opt for a model that places equal focus on all of its functions. Remember to look for the roaster oven that is best for you.

Buyers Guide: How to buy the best roaster oven?

Buying a roaster oven doesn’t have to be a difficult process. There are so many great makes and models out there. But you will definitely get more use out of your roaster oven if you consider your purchase just a little bit beforehand. Here are some handy tips and tricks to remember. Think about them, since that will work best according to your needs.

  • Always read user reviews

This is a hint that should be applied to any purchase that you make. Always listen to what other users think about a product. Advertisements are always trying to sell you something. This will only ever focus on all of the great aspects of a product. Although this is still important, it only gives you half the picture. User reviews will also let you know all about the bad aspects of a product if there are any.

A lot of the time, negative reviews can be categorized into legitimate complaints and complaints that have arisen through the fault of the user, not the product. Sometimes people just don’t know how to use an appliance, but will still blame the appliance, instead of learning. These can be discounted, but you need to consider the legitimate complaints. If someone’s machine was broken upon arrival, or if their product does not work the way it is intended, you should consider this when buying one yourself.

Remember, when it comes to user reviews, numbers matter. If there are 100 positive reviews and a single negative review, you are probably pretty safe investing in the product. But if there are multiple negative reviews, you may want to consider your choice a little more.

  • Buy based on your cooking intentions

Some roaster ovens are designed for a single purpose only – to roast foods. There is nothing wrong with this, considering that is their primary purpose. And if that is all you want to use a roaster oven for, then you will have no issues purchasing a roaster oven that is capable of doing that. But if you want to use your roaster oven in several different ways – steaming, slow cooking, baking – then you need to look for a model that is specifically equipped for all of these extras, as well as roasting.

These multifunctional roaster ovens do exist, and they can be a great appliance that replaces some different, single-function appliances. So if you see yourself getting as much use out of this as possible, by using a variety of different cooking functions, then shop accordingly.

  • Buy based on size

Just as we recommend that you buy a roaster oven according to how you will use it. We also recommend buying according to how many people you will be feeding. Roaster ovens come in a range of different sizes. If your primary use for your roaster oven is to feed the whole family a delicious roast turkey, then, by all means, go for the largest model available.

But if you are just going to be cooking for a smaller group of people, even just yourself, you might want to consider a slightly smaller model. Everyone tends to want to get the biggest roaster possible. But there are many benefits to getting something smaller when you don’t need the extra room.

A smaller roaster oven is going to take up less space. This is great for people with small kitchens and even smaller storage areas. Don’t waste valuable room on a huge appliance, when a smaller one will be just as powerful. A smaller roaster is also going to take less time to fully heat up. It will help with the preparation side of your meals.

  • Consider the material the oven roaster is made from

Most roasters are made from stainless steel or enamel steel. Both of these options are great because they retain heat better. As well as disperse it evenly, ensuring all food is cooked to perfection. There are also some porcelain alternatives, which may produce better results depending on what you are looking for. These are better for baking, although they will also produce great roasted results.

This will be important if you intend to use your roaster oven for a specific purpose, or if you have a strong preference for porcelain. Both options will still provide great results regardless, especially to the untrained palate.

  • Opt for a model that comes with a warranty

Again, this tip applies to all significant purchases you make, not just this one. As with any appliance that you buy, there will always be a small risk that something is faulty. This is not your fault, manufacturing errors can happen. Although this is to be expected a small percentage of the time, it doesn’t mean you have to live with a faulty appliance. If you choose a product with a warranty, you are covered against any damage you did not cause.

In some cases, brands that offer warranties may be slightly more expensive than brands that don’t. More often than not, paying a little more upfront will save you a lot in repairs, in the long run.

  • Don’t buy a refurbished model

It can be tempting to opt for a slightly cheaper refurbished model from Amazon. Especially considering all of the brands’ promises that it will be as good as new. When it comes to roaster ovens, this is rarely the case. You only need to look through user reviews to see that refurbished models frequently don’t work. In some cases, they arrive still dirty and used by the previous owner. Always pay a little extra and invest in a new appliance that has no prior issues.

Top tips for making the most of your roaster oven

One of the main reasons that people purchase a roaster oven is to cook a turkey. Turkey is often viewed as the most important element of a Thanksgiving dinner, a time to celebrate with friends and family. To make sure that your turkey-cooking goes smoothly, here are some tips and tricks to consider:

  • Make sure your turkey fits the roaster oven

Do your research beforehand, to ensure that the turkey you buy will be able to fit inside your roaster oven. You don’t want to purchase a turkey big enough to feed everyone. If it is only to find that your roaster oven is too small… When in doubt, always go up a size when buying your roaster oven! The extra space can be used to cook vegetables and potatoes if you wish.

  • Do not roast the turkey directly on the pan

Almost all roaster ovens come with a rack that can be placed inside of the roaster oven. Rest the turkey on that, instead of the bottom of the pan. This allows all of the meat to cook evenly. It also prevents the bottom areas of the turkey from resting in its fat.

  • Invest in a meat thermometer

This is a great tool to have in any kitchen, not just for when you want to cook a turkey. It can be difficult to judge whether your meat is fully heated and cooked all the way through. You don’t want to serve it undercooked, and you don’t want to burn the outside because you are concerned that the inner parts need a little longer. Take all of the guesswork out of roasting by using a meat thermometer.

All you need to do is insert it into the thickest part of the meat. Then you will get an accurate reading of the temperature.

This is also a great idea because many people complain that their roaster ovens do not display the correct temperature. Take all of the guesswork out of the equation by investing in a meat thermometer you know is accurate. Afterward, you can then adjust the roaster temperature accordingly.

  • Always defrost your meat

Never attempt to roast your meat while it is still frozen. This leads to uneven cooking and can ruin your whole meal. You should plan ahead, and allow your turkey to sit at room temperature for at least an hour before you begin to cook (or longer, if you have an exceptionally large turkey).

  • Season your meat before you begin cooking

Always season your turkey! This is the key to creating delicious turkey – seasoning beforehand tastes infinitely better than attempting to season it after. Everyone has their preferences when it comes to what seasoning combinations work best. It might take a little bit of trial and error to find out what works for you. Never be afraid to experiment, but you need to keep one thing in mind. You can always add more, but you can never remove it once it’s on. Feel free to start with a little and add more to taste, especially if you are trying something new.

  • Add a little extra fat or oil to the meat

Adding butter or oil to your meat will help to get the skin extra brown and crispy, and make your turkey look even more mouthwatering. This is another step you should be careful with. Because overdoing it can ruin the flavor of the meat, and leave you with a very strong turkey.

  • Make the most of your roaster oven

Feel free to add some potatoes and vegetables to your roaster oven while your turkey cooks. These can help to season the turkey as well, and it just helps to free up more space in your conventional oven if you need it. It is recommended that you place these on a rack as well. Don’t let them sit on the bottom of the cooker. This will expose them to all of the fat drippings from the turkey, which will prevent them from crisping up.

Buying Guide for Best Pomegranate Juicer:

The Juicers comes in high-graded stainless steel constructions that are easy-to-use and suites for both commercial and home purpose. The thick, strong, and heavy juicer can deliver your favorite fresh juices year after year, yet it can still look new if you maintain it well.

The juice press is easy to use, you just need to cut a pomegranate and any citrus fruit in halves and place them on the sheet or cone and press down the handle. The juice runs down the funnel and now you can enjoy the fresh juice, free of seeds and pulp. Also, if you want finer juice, then use a mesh filter that will be included in the package.

The 800CPXL stainless steel juicing cone with four fins can easily accommodate large citrus fruits to small fruits like grapefruits to limes and you can put non-citrus fruits like pomegranates. However, it is a bit complicated, to place some of these awkwardly uneven fruits on the top of the cone to get evenly and perfectly squeezed, but you will surely get used to it after some trial and error process.

You should know that there are different types of juice press devices accessible in the market. It is also important to know the details of juicing technology and how it works.

How do juicers work?

Juicers are not complicated devices; they are simple and easy-to-use. The juicers are used to extract juice from vegetables and fruits; they do the job by crushing or shredding them and squeeze the juice.

Many individuals might want to know why they need to drink juice when they can eat the whole fruit and vegetable. Well, drinking juice is the better alternative to eating whole fruits or vegetables because it allows you to have the last drop of juice from the fruit, and also it is easy to digest. However, drinking juice in the morning can be very helpful as it keeps your refreshing the entire day. You will have many health benefits especially when you drink pomegranate and citrus juices every morning.

Different types of juicers:

There are three major types of juicers available in the market that includes:

  • Centrifugal Juicers
  • Masticating Juicers
  • Triturating Juicers

Centrifugal Juicer: Centrifugal juicer contains a flat cutting blade and the fast-spinning strainer is on the bottom. Using the centrifugal force, the cut produce is pressed against the juicing strainer. This leverage separates the juice from the pulp through the juicing strainer.

Masticating Juicer: Masticating juicer does not use blades to slice instead it uses gears to grind. Some of these masticating juicers work on only one gear and they just grind food against hard surfaces and other juicers grind between two gears similar to the meat grinder. The masticating juicer also is known as a slow juicer as it takes a longer time than a centrifugal juicer.

Triturating juicer: It is also called a twin-gear juicer as it contains two gears placed close to each other. The gears rotate to grind and crush the produce when it goes into the machine, and it grinds the food into very tiny particles and extract every bit of juice from the fruit, and pushes the dry pulp out.

Advantages and Disadvantages of the different types of juicer:

Each of these juicers comes with several advantages and a few disadvantages.

Advantages of Centrifugal Juicer:

  • Contains fewer parts, so it is easy-to-clean and easy-to-maintain
  • Extracts juice very quickly from fruits and vegetables
  • A very popular type of juicer available in the market
  • Occupies less space in your kitchen
  • Handles softer fruits very well

Disadvantages of Centrifugal Juicers:

  • Not a perfect option for storing juice
  • More oxidation as portrayed by the amount of foam
  • Not the right juicer for extracting wheatgrass or other types of grasses

Advantages of Masticating Juicers:

  • They are slow juicers, so they can extract every bit of juice from the fruit or vegetable
  • Preserve more nutrients and less oxidation
  • Processes frozen fruits also
  • Perfect choice for baby food, nut butter, as they work as a grain mills

Disadvantages of Masticating Juicers:

  • Not efficient enough as centrifugal juicers, especially when it comes to extracting juice with less fiber
  • Contains a lot of units, therefore it takes more time for cleaning and assembling
  • Contains a smaller feed tube, so you have to cut the fruits before putting into the juicer
  • A Huge device, which means, it takes more counter space

Advantages of Triturating Juicers:

  • It is one of the best among all three types as it can extract maximum juice from the fruit
  • Contains twin gears, which makes it run slower compared to the masticating juicers and that is why it can extract more juice from fruits as well as vegetables
  • Perfect choice for homogenizing food, also, a perfect option for preparing fruit sorbets, baby foods, and pasta.

Disadvantages of Triturating Juicers:

  • Expensive compared to the other two types
  • The slow operation, which means you have to cut the fruits before feeding
  • The bigger device, therefore, occupies more counter space

What to consider before buying the Best Pomegranate Juicer?

Type of Produce: It depends on the fruits and the vegetables that you want to put your juicer, accordingly you should buy your juicer. For juicy vegetables and fruits like cucumbers, carrots, or oranges, centrifugal juicers are the best option.

If you want to use your juicer for wheatgrass, fibrous roots, and leafy greens like kale, spinach, or collard greens, then buying a masticating juicer is the best option. This slow juicer gives the best nutritional value and high yield. These juicers are also the perfect choice for making baby food, sauces, sorbets, etc.

Nutrient Value: Slow juicers are the best option if you want to have a nutritious juice every morning. The slow juice press devices prevent the produce from oxidizing and heating consequently, it retains the nutritional value of your greens, veggies, and fruits.

Juicing Speed: If you have a very short time to spend on juicing, then it is vital to get fast and sharp-spinning blade devices such as centrifugal juicers, as they are the best choice for people who want quick juice. However, you should know that when you want a quick juicing device, then you should compromise on nutrition value or quality.

Juice Quality: As said before, the higher the juicing speed, the quality of the juice will be lower.

Amount of Yield: Masticating models process the produce very slowly therefore, you will get the last bit of juice from the fruit or veggies. When you notice the pulp, you will know that it has extracted the maximum amount of juice into the glass.

Best Value for Money: Individuals, who feed organic produce in the juicer, surely wants to get the maximum yield and value for money. That is why these individuals prefer Masticating Juicers to feed the organic produce as it squeezes every drop out of the veggies, and they save a lot of money in the long run.

Amount of Noise: Centrifugal Models run on a higher rpm between 5,000 and 15,000 and these models are the noisiest ones, and blender juicers make a lot of noise. In general, the higher the rpm, the nosier the device will be.

Feeding Chute Width: The feeding chute is where you feed the produce, which means it is the mouth of the juicer. If the feeding chute is smaller, then you have to cut the fruit into small pieces. The smaller feeding chute takes smaller pieces so that it can crush them properly without jamming.

Time of Clean up: It is important to find the juicer that requires less clean up. Spending a lot of time cleaning the juicer cannot keep you motivated to use the device. However, the cleaning time on juicers depends on the size, type, and difficulty of the product.

When it comes to the cleaning part, horizontal cold press juicers and twin gear juicers are the most complicated ones and take a lot of time in cleaning up. These two types of juicers contain many parts, but again, it also depends on the brand and each model.

Centrifugal juicers contain lesser parts, but cleaning the mesh screen and cutting the disk can be a tough task. Vertical Masticating type juicers are easy to clean as they do not contain many parts and most of these parts are also dishwasher safe.

Nevertheless, the construction of each device also makes the cleaning process simple for some models and difficult for some juicers.

Ease-of-use: The vertical masticating and centrifugal juicers are considered easy-to-use devices. Also, horizontal dual ager or single auger takes only a few ties to get used to them. In addition, most of these models are easy-to-assemble.

Cost: It depends on the device type, the ban, and the extra features of the device. Mostly, centrifugal juicers are affordable ones, and single and double auger masticating models are available in the market at a very reasonable price.

Warranty Span: Some top manufacturers provide a longer warranty period for their product the warranty can reach up to 15years. If the manufacturers give you a longer warranty period, then you can avoid buying an extended guarantee when you purchase the juicer.

Company Reputation: It is always best to buy your juicer from a reputed company. However, there are many new juicer companies, that are sprouting all the time, but choosing the right product can last longer and allows you to make juices regularly for a longer period. Choose the top brands like Breville, Omega, Tribest, Hurom, GreenStra, and the above-mentioned brands.

Extra Features: Some of the best pomegranate juicer devices come with extra and advanced features like crushing garlic, grinding spices, frozen sorbets, making pasta, and more.

How to Use a Juicer for Pomegranate :

Here you can find seven simple steps on how to use a juicer so that you can start juicing like a professional.

  • Get the produce ready
  • Clean them properly and pat it dry before putting in the juicer
  • Take out your juicer, plug it in, and turn the switch on. It is advisable to read all the instructions carefully before using the machine.
  • Feed the produce into the machine, and the juice will be collected into the container
  • After juicing is finished, turn the machine off
  • Remove the pulp from the strainer

Additional Information:

How Much Juice Is In One Pomegranate?

Well, it depends on the size of the pomegranate, a large size pomegranate contains about ¾ cup of juice.

Can You Juice Pomegranates?

Yes, it is easy to juice pomegranates in juicers. It takes only a few minutes to make homemade pomegranate juice. Drinking pomegranate juice every morning not only gives you good health but also keeps you refreshing all through the day. Pomegranate juice is a delicious and healthy drink as it is loaded with nutrients and antioxidants.

How Many Calories Are in Pomegranate Juice?

In one cup of pomegranate juice, you may acquire around 140 calories only.

Can you feed Whole Pomegranates in a Juicer?

No, you cannot feed the entire fruit in a juicer. You need to cut the fruit in two halves if you are using a juice press. However, if you are using a hand crank juicer or an electric juicer, you have to deseed the pomegranate before juicing them.

Conclusion:

Pomegranates are not easy-to-juice and easy-to-strain. The tough surrounding walls and the exterior cover the small edible seeds that make the extraction a bit difficult for many juicers. The manual juicers are popular devices for pomegranates. Most manufacturers make their juicers capable of extracting the last drop from the seeds, which is why the manual juices are compatible with pomegranates. Automatic juicers are mostly citrus juicers but some of them are capable of squeezing pomegranate juice.

The enamel-on-steel pan and rack are removable, which allows for an in-depth clean so it’s ready to use for the next time. This individual model also has an adjustable temperature dial, which allows you to control the cooking experience, depending on your needs. This ranges from 150-450 Fahrenheit. The ‘Keep Warm’ setting also works to ensure that the food remains at the ideal serving temperature. The stainless steel exterior is also a favorite for customers, as it is said to complement a range of decor.

However as mentioned above, the oven has a 4.7 rating for value for money, showing that customers do seem happy with the price they pay for the product. Alongside this, it also has a 4.6 accuracy rating and a 4.5 versatility rating.

Oster Roaster Oven Cons:

The cons of this product are listed below:

  • Quite a large number of online reviews of the Oster roaster oven have stated that they usually have to adjust the temperature dial frequently as it seems to be inaccurate compared to the temperatures stated on the dial. This could be an issue for those who are using the oven for the first time or following a recipe with strict guidelines. Customers have complained about burning food, or not cooking it for long enough.
  • In the information booklet, Oster states that some countertop surfaces such as Corian are not designed to withstand heat from certain appliances such as the roaster oven. They recommend placing a hot plate underneath the appliance to prevent damage. If you have a certain type of countertop, it is important to check this out before purchasing. Although this may be considered a hassle, this is again common for most products and appliances similar to the Oster roaster oven.
  • Even though the size of this product may be considered an asset, it is highly possible to overcook a large amount for yourself or your family. Compared to other ovens, users have stated they have had to adjust recipes and grocery shops, so they do not end up with a large number of leftovers. If you are a couple or a single individual, this particular product may be too big for your needs.
  • Reviews of the product also mention that they have had difficulty getting their turkey to brown and turn crispy. Furthermore to have alternatively had to finish it off in the oven. However, this is a concern that is raised with most roasting oven brands and may have something to do with the overall product design.
  • One of the main complaints that have risen all over the internet is that the enamel coat that covers the pan is prone to chipping, therefore devaluing the product immensely. One individual stated that after only two uses, the enamel appeared to be dull and looked as if the coating had been burned off. Another stated that when she began washing and scrubbing the pan after its first use. Then the enamel began to flake off, causing her concern for her health. There are many other reviews like this, saying that after a few weeks they begin to see signs of the roaster deteriorating. Also due to its chipping, some users believe that the pan quickly became sharp causing small cuts and abrasions and they eventually returned the product.
  • When compared to different brands that offer a similar size pan and cooking experience, the price for this product is reasonable, but not exceptional. There are cheaper options out there, but all usually fall around the same price mark if you are after something this size with the self-basting option.
  • As stated in the information book, the Oster Roaster Oven with Self-Basting Lid offers a 1-year limited warranty, which has quite a few holes in it. For instance, it will not cover any misuse/negligence of the product, use on improper voltage, use contrary to the instruction manual, alteration by the user, and disassembly by the user. The warranty also states that it does not cover any ‘Acts from God’, including flood, fire, and hurricanes. Although the warranty on this product is not great, it is similar to a lot of other products with similar specs and design qualities.

Final Thoughts for the Oster Roaster Oven with Self-Basting Lid: 22 QT

oster roaster oven has a black self basting lid

Overall, this product would be perfect for entertainers who host events like Christmas and Thanksgiving. Alternatively, large families or charity workers looking to make a large quantity of food would also benefit from purchasing this product.

The self-basting option stands out compared to other roaster oven brands. Since it saves time in and around the kitchen, and you don’t have the hassle of basting by hand. This could entitle you to more time with your family, or more time cooking other meals.

If you are a small family, who doesn’t host a lot of events, research smaller models. But do it before handing over the cash for something that could be deemed unnecessary. You could probably find something cheaper, that will suit your family’s needs, and you’ll be able to follow recipes clearer. The price of this product is reasonable, and most products similar have the same price tag and warranty.

The main default in this product that causes great concern would be the number of reviews of chipping and flaking enamel. When compared to other products, this stands out and should be considered before purchasing.

Again, I would consider this an overall great product. Since it has high reviews online, many people seem to enjoy cooking with it. The Oster Roaster Oven with Self-Basting Lid: 22 QT should be on your list to check out.
